Appearance & Functionality

The app enables you to activate or deactivate functionality to meet your need. Keep it super simple, or activate everything for managing a lot of gear and packs.

UnitsUnits of Measure for display: metric or imperial This will show grams or ounces for details e.g gear weight and kilos and pounds for summary values e.g. categories or pack totals.
This does NOT affect the UoM for data entry. Use whichever is convenient and the app will automatically convert them to your display value.
ColourHeading colour for display within the app: Category names, …
ModeLight or dark mode. Or system if you want the app to be aligned to your phone (which may be timed to daylight hours)
Gear Category SelectorIn the gear locker, rather than show all gear on one screen grouped by category, use a drop down list as a category filter. This is useful when you have A LOT of gear, which is very important 🙂
Gear NotesAdd detail notes to an individual gear item. These will be displayed on PDF versions of pack lists, if selected.
Extended AttributesEnables extra fields on the gear editor page, to record prices and dates of purchase, quantities owned adn more …
Gear ImagesMake your lists look pretty. Show image of the gear item in the list view. Useful for identfying different gear/colour items
Pack NotesAdd detail notes to a pack, for storing decisions around pack contents or tailoring to the trip conditions.
Sort by WeightBy default, the gear items in a pack are sorted alphabeticaly. If you wish to list them heaviest to lightest, then enable this option. Useful for identfying heavy items to reduce the weight in your pack.
Pack Lifecycle(Upgrade option: SECTION HIKER) Enable packs to be archived, to keep a record of historical packs but not clutter up the main view
Pack Images(Upgrade option: SECTION HIKER) Make your lists look pretty. Show images of the pack or may be the trail logo or anything else in the list view. Useful for identfying different packs beteen trips.
Pack Systems(Upgrade option: THRU HIKER) Enable ‘kits’ or ‘systems’ or ‘pack in packs’. A smaller static subset of gear which can be added to one or more packs for efficient pack contents selection. e.g. First Aid Kit or Summer Cook Kit, …
