We may collect the following types of information
- Personal Information You Provide: This includes information you provide directly to us, such as when you create an account, contact customer support, or participate in surveys. This may include your name, email address, username, password and any other information you choose to provide.
- Usage Data: We automatically collect ‘analytics’ / information about your interaction with the App. This includes your IP address, device type, operating system, unique device identifiers, browser type, pages or features of the App used, time spent on those pages, access dates and times, and other usage statistics. This infomation is solely used for the maintenance and future development of the App and is not shared with any 3rd parties.
- Location Data: With your explicit consent (opt-in), we may collect precise or approximate location information from your device. You can enable or disable location services through your device settings. We use this information to provide location-based features when on trips or following routes.
- Data from Third Parties We do NOT collect data about you from Third-Parties. (Update: for YouTube subscription verification – if user-action initiated!)
DATA Storage
Your information is stored on secure servers located in Europe: Belgium, Netherlands and Finland. We utilise Google’s infrastructure to provide industry-standard security measures, including encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, and regular security audits, to protect your data from unauthorized access, use, alteration, or disclosure. While we strive to protect your information, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure.
Data Transfer and Sharing: We may transfer or share your information in the following circumstances:
- Service Providers: We engage trusted third-party service providers to perform functions and provide services to us, such as hosting, data analytics, customer support, payment processing, and marketing. These providers are contractually bound to use your information only for the purposes of providing those services and to maintain the confidentiality and security of your data.
- Legal Compliance and Protection: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to a valid legal request, such as a subpoena, court order, or government investigation. We may also disclose your information if we believe it is necessary to protect our rights, property, or safety, or the rights, property, or safety of others.

We will notify you via the App or email of any such change in ownership or control of your personal information.
- With Your Consent: We do NOT share your information with third parties for purposes other than enabling the core functionality of the application.
Data Retention: We retain your personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law. The specific retention periods depend on the type of information and the context in which it was collected. For example:
Account Information: Retained for as long as your account is active.
Usage Data: Retained for upto five years solely for aggregated analytics to enable service improvement.
Location Data: Retained for only while the App is in use.

- Correction: You have the right to request correction of inaccurate or incomplete personal information.

- Withdraw Consent: You have the right to remove consent for any data collection and processing covered by this policy, to the extent permitted by law. In this case, your account will need to be deleted as the App cannot function without user-specific identifiers.
You can request deletion of your personal information by contacting us at helpdesk@backinpack.com or by using the data deletion feature in the App. We will comply with your request, subject to any legal obligations to retain certain data.
