Requires: Thru Hiker tier
Trip Tasks are your pre-trip to-do list: everything to sort out before you set off. Permits, transport, fuel canisters, a dentist appointment you keep putting off. Each task belongs to one Trip, and a separate All Tasks view collects the open ones from every trip.
Where Tasks Live
Tasks are the checklist tab on a trip. Trip tabs are icon-only, so look for the tick-list icon.
Creating a Task
- Open a trip and go to the Tasks tab
- Tap the + button
- Fill in the fields
- Tap the tick button to save
| Field | Notes |
|---|---|
| Title | What needs doing. Required; the task will not save without one |
| Description | Free text, up to three lines on screen |
| Link | A URL, validated on save. The button beside it opens the link in your browser |
| Priority | Low, Medium or High. New tasks start on Medium |
| Deadline | Optional. Tap Select to pick one, or the x to clear it again |
Reading the Task List
The list is split into two groups:
- Open shows every task still to do, and is expanded
- Completed is collapsed by default. Tap its heading to unfold it
Each heading carries a count badge, so you can see how much is left without expanding anything.
Each row shows:
| Element | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Circle on the left | Empty for open, ticked for completed |
| Title | Struck through once the task is completed |
| Priority chip | Low, Medium or High, colour-coded green, orange, red |
| Link chip | A small chain icon, shown only when the task has a link |
| Deadline on the right | The date, shown in red if it has passed and the task is still open |
Sorting
A three-way selector sits above the list:
| Segment | What it does |
|---|---|
| A-Z | Title, ignoring case |
| Priority | High first, then Medium, then Low. Ties break on the nearest deadline. This is the default |
| Date | Nearest deadline first. Tasks with no deadline sink to the bottom |
Sorting applies inside both groups. Date sorts by deadline, not by when the task was created.
Leave the Completed group folded and the list stays as a view of what is still outstanding.
Priority Levels
| Priority | Use for |
|---|---|
| High | Must be done before you leave: permits, transport, insurance |
| Medium | Important but not blocking |
| Low | Nice to have, or can wait until you are on the trail |
Priority sets the chip colour and drives the Priority sort.
Completing, Editing and Deleting
- Complete: tap the circle on the left of the row. The task moves to the Completed group straight away. Tap it again to reopen the task
- Edit: tap anywhere else on the row to open the editor
- Delete: swipe the row left
All Tasks
To see what is outstanding across every trip, tap the checklist icon at the top of the trips list. All Tasks groups open tasks under their trip name, sorted by priority then deadline within each trip.
It lists open tasks only. Tap one to jump to that trip's own task list. If nothing is outstanding anywhere you get "No open tasks across any trip."
Tip: Put the URL in the Link field rather than the description. The editor gives it its own open-in-browser button, and the list shows a chain chip so you can spot at a glance which tasks you can action on the spot.
